Dr. John Poirier is an expert in Human Resources Development and Management. As part of his practice, he takes on the roles of executive coach, consultant, trainer, and facilitator to help clients develop the competencies they need to enhance organizational effectiveness, team learning, and individual performance. John’s combined expertise in Business and in HRD allows him to directly link people strategy to business strategy. His varied experiences as a corporate manager, management consultant and college professor help him relate to clients using their own frames of reference.
As an executive coach, John has worked with executives at EMD Serono, Fidelity Investments, Liberty Mutual, Parexel and Putnam Investments. Clients include identified high potentials as well as many individuals focused on improved leadership effectiveness. As a consultant, he has headed projects at CVS, UMASS Memorial Medical Center, and Wachovia. John has also facilitated many off site meetings for organizations such as John Hancock and Aon Hewitt. As a trainer, he has logged countless hours leading management development programs for managers from all functional disciplines. Public sector clients have included not for profit organizations such as the Seven Hills Foundation and government agencies such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, NASA and the US Forest Service.
Dr. Poirier is also a Lecturer in the department of Management at Bryant University where he teaches courses in Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. In addition, he is an adjunct Lecturer at the Boston University School of Education Program in Human Resources Education.
John earned his Doctor of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He also holds an MBA from Bryant University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from American University in Washington DC. John also holds the SPHR designation from Society for Human Resource Management.
